The Word

***Attention all prudes: If you are allergic to vulgar language and blush at the slightest hint of vulgarity, please do not read on. The following post might be hazardous to your health. ***

The word “fuck” has many meanings. It could mean
a) to have sex, Like “ Do u wanna fuck me?”
b) mess things up, “ Oh shit, I totally fucked it up”
c) used to replace the word “very”, “ All men are fucking bastards!” ( a statement which some women attest to be very true by the way)
d) to back off in an argument , or to evacuate one’s physical body from the premises, or as the british say “ piss off!” . A shining example would be the wife saying to her husband’s mistress: “Fuck off! This is my man!”
e) To curse someone, Imagine Jen Aniston saying this to Angelina Jolie, “ Fuck you for stealing my Brad!”
f) To convey shock and horror. An apt example would be when a heterosexual guy thinks he landed a one night stand with a hot chick and wakes up next to a man the next day “ What the fuck? “ , he would exclaim in horror.
g) Or it could just be used in just about any situation at all, to convey vehemence and passion about the situation like “ How the fuck did Bush become the US president?” or “ Where the fuck did Donald Trump get his haircut from?” or to quote Mr Big from Sex and the City “Abso-fucking-lutely”

So, fuck is a multi-purpose word, a word used often by those with limited vocabulary, the lazy and those with mouths as dirty as the toilet bowl.

It just brings to mind how weird it is that the English language, which has influences from languages all over the world, only has about one proper swear word when the hokkien dialect, a dialect of the Chinese language possesses more than half a dozen swear words, carrying the same meaning as “fuck”.
I suppose this would mean that the hokkien people have more fun swearing than people who have less swear words in their languages, due to the wide array of swear words they can pick and choose from.

Perhaps I will leave this thought for all to ponder on today and before I sign out I will leave you all with one last merry filthy shout out: “ KANEENACHOWCHEEBYESIMILANJIAONABEI!”

My fucking sincere apologies for fucking up the chastity of this site by posting the most fuck-a-licious post in the fucking history of this fucking kick ass blog.

Witch of Portebello

It's been a while since I wrote anything. It't been just photo-essays amidst crazy work schedules.

Today, on this fine Sunday afternoon, while listening to my recently amassed F.I.R collection of MP3, I thought I would share a little of the latest book I have conquered - Witch of Portebello.

Like Paulo's usual works, this is yet another inspirational piece. While the past few pieces which I read of late, like the The Valkyries, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept , Eleven Minutes, were mainly about chasing your dreams and taking risks which really got me to thinking what is it I want for my life.

In Witch of Portebello, there is a something that I find quite true, though that might not be the central theme of the book. That is that people are constantly busy or finding that they need busyness to make them feel useful, to fill in the blanks. So they work and busy themselves, striving to retire at 50 and travel the world. Yet, when one has finally earned enough to do so, he might not... simply for fear that he will stop contributing, stop being useful.

In the book, there's also this part about trying to get people to be different, to do something that they really want to do instead of doing what the society/family thinks is appropriate. I believe this is the way that we can fill in the gaps and blanks that might exist because now life has a meaning.

And now I find that I can better understand what you mean if anyone says " I believe in a god but I don't go to a church" ...perhaps it's like what's reflected by one of the gypsies in the story. ..
"My temple is in the park, the sky, the water in the lake and the stream that feeds it. My people are those who shares in my ideas and not those I'm bound to by bonds of blood. My ritual is being with those people and celebrating everything around me"

And I feel I want to dedicate this to all of us here...

"Believe, believe in your abilities; believe that you have already arrived where you wanted to arrive. Faith is not desire. Faith is Will. Desires are things that need to be satisfied, whereas Will is a force. Will changes the space around us. But for that, you also need Desire. "

For that daily does of inspiration, perhaps you can also visit this site which I just discovered. http://www.paulocoelhoblog.com/

Thanks for all your well wishes!

Hi gals! It's been sooooo long since my last entry haha ... think I've been super busy & writing has never been my strong attribute ... but I think I must thank you all for all your well wishes & share our story with all my lovely friends :)

We went through 1.5 mths of painful waiting & countless times of opening to an empty mailbox ... I still remembered once when he said " Dear, why don't you open the mailbox for me, you have always been my lucky star"; I was nervous ... opened ... and still there was no mail". Couldn't really sleep that night ... Time passed & chances grew slimmer. Deep down inside I was so afraid that he would not get it. We tried to avoid bringing up the subject but I could hear his sighs every night over the other end of the line... I was so disturbed and couldn't focus in the office - it hurts me so much because I know how badly he wanted it ... I prayed everyday ...

Finally, Tat received a call from his Mum that the postman came to deliver a registered parcel but no one was at home on a Friday ... then his Mum asked for a re-collection on Mon. Oh my god!! We couldn't do anything but wait! and it was the most awful wait!! Is it good news?? Acceptance letter? ... it should be good right?? but what if it's bad news ... oh no, we shouldn't raise our hopes too high ... all these stupid thoughts flooded our minds ... luckily, Tat managed to contact the Post office & arranged for a re-delivery on Sat. I was never happier to see a Postman in my life haha!!

There we were, an envelope in Tat's hands & 3 woman - his mum, me & his Ah-ma on her wheelchair. He opened the envelope ... I was frantically trying to search through the words ... & there it was in BOLD - "ACCEPTANCE" ... I screamed! We were overjoyed! His Mummy hugged him & she extended her arms to hug me as well ... after which she asked his Ah-ma in Teochew "do you know what's the news? do you know what's happening" - (coz Tat's Ah-ma is very old and sometimes can't even recognise people)... then Ah-ma teared and said in a trembling voice, "Ah-boy is going to be a doctor" ... she started to cry ... oh dear .. then I couldn't control my tears anymore; I didn't realise that I have penned up my emotions for so long ... crying was a relief and they were all happy tears ...

But the most touching thing was when Tat pulled me into his room, he knelt down & said to me, "Dear, thank you for sticking by me all these while ... now we are finally on par & I finally feel worthy for you... "..... - I'm can't seems to find the right words to describe my feelings, but i guess gals if you know us long enough, you'll understand ... this 7 year love marathon has never been easy but now, it just deepen my love for this man ... he makes me feel like the luckiest woman in this world... This is a whole new beginning & we'll both work very hard for our future ... I truly believe that he will definitely make a wonderful doctor ... and of course, we also want to thank all you, my dearest friends for being with me all these while... I love you all ....

All right, enough of all these mushy stuff ... on a lighter note, just to share on the replies I have received from all of you thru sms - the funniest have to be from Gis - quote
"Wow! He must be very happy :-) now you can tell pple u have a doc boyfriend .. (hee) and I can get mc for free (double hee hee) :P "
It's so Gis ... haha

HK over the Weekend - the Remake!

A little peeved that my earlier post got lost when the page hung mailto:*@##$%^%&*&$##!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
Anyway.
First thing I came back to HK and sat down in front of my desk, and I could literally feel the chair sink a couple of inches. But I'll worry about that later. After all, Hong Kong is for stuffy yourself silly ....and shopping yourself broke ain't it!? hahaha
Considering the short amount of time I spent there, am beginning to realize that too much of it was spent eating!!!
Slept in the first day I was there coz I was up all night the before the day I flew to clear work...
Nothing like an over-generous portion of HK dim sum to kick start the trip ;p hehe... think I scared Chun a little the way I was going down the list and doing, ok lets have this and this and this and that and that... oh and that and that too! ;p

After that it was off to IFC building to shop for wedding bands, although I couldn't find something I liked. Maybe it's time to visit the Tiffany website.... mwahahahahaahah!
Then I nearly... very very nearly.. bought my first pair of Nine West shoes. heheh... but was thinking about it and decided to come back home to check out prices before sucumbing to impulse.

Headed across the straits to Kowloon and stumbled upon some street artists. I'd always wanted to have a caricature done, and so I just plopped myself on the first one I saw. Sadly though, nearly one and a half hours and some painstaking touch-ups later, the gal in the drawing still didn't look like me. Upset.
That's me.........
Was walking around and stumbled upon the very posh looking, very Victorian Peninsular Hotel. Jazz band there was good so decided to stay for hot chocolate and some chit chat.

Headed back to Lan Kwai Fong after that, and believe it or not, bought briyani back for dinner after that.

Some night / evening shots of Kowloon...

Started off second day at a cha2 can1 ting1 .. something that sounded like "Swee Wah" for some good ol' local breakfast.. Giselle, these shots are specially for you!!!! ;p

heheheh..... after we fed ourselves it was time to conquer the crowds and head off to Shenzhen where the REAL shopping begins!!!!!! CHOOSE CLOTHES BARGAIN BARGAIN CHOOSE CLOTH BARGAIN BARGAIN CHOOSE AND BARGAIN AGAIN AND AGAIN...hahahahah....man was I BROKE at the end of it. And that was only one shop.

But all's well ends well... and I'll be enjoying the spoils of my efforts not too long from now!!! Poor Chun, I didn't realize that the tailor took measurements for every single piece of clothing I chose, she was just sitting there most of the time waiting for me and we had to reschedule the pamper-ourselves program lined up that evening coz we simply wouldn't have made it back to HK on time.
Through the maddening crowds once more and we were finally back. I was so pooped. But there's nothing that a nice rest couldn't cure, and we're off to Lan Kwai Fong!!!

Soaked in the HK night life at one of the pubs (I am APPALLED that there is almost no dancing at the clubs around here... although the pubbing scene is definitely more lifely than in SG). The crowds simply spill onto the streets and you can hear music blaring even when you can't reawlly tell where it's coming from. Well, but dancing is my thing, so the pubbing without the dancing couldn't really hold my attention for long. Went around the mid-levels and Soho area, and got to see a slice of the real HK, as in, the HK to Hong Kongers. Where the residential shoe boxes are located, where tall and skinny point blocks just stick out from nowhere..

The last day in HK was spent doing facial and going around Causeway Bay, and buying pastries home. Went to Goods Of Desire as well, this furniture place that's quite like IKEA but much posh-er looking ;p

Can't really imagine, my last day in HK and we went to eat Jap... but it was REALLY good Jap food!!! And of course there was congee.... and there was dessert (the entire time I was in HK, I was dragging Chun looking for this place called Yee Shun milk company for the famous steamed milk, and I am proud to say I was the one who first intro-ed Chun to the delicacy!!!!!! Yeash it's just milk, but who cares!!! It has EARNED its place on the delicacies list!!!), and there was streetside dim sum, and mango sago with mango puree.... hmmm.... bliss....
hahaha... spoken like a true foodie! Of course the calories are taking no timin getting to my ass... those efficient buggers... but well, will worry about them another day...

Wasn't too adventurous with the sight-seeing and shoppoing, but all in all it was a great trip and I had lots of fun! Hahaha.. there is nothing quite like catching up eith a friend over home-made hot chocolate on the balcony enjoying the balmy night breeze (albeit a little polluted) ;p
Will definitely do the islands on my next trip, and mind you there will be one... cheap tailored clothes are TOO good to pass up!!!!! ;p

Wedding Dress

Hi gals,

realized that I haven't really been keeping ya all in the loop on my wedding preps, so just a short update .... in point form (considering that I have to werk tomorrow...)

Wedding dress -
Short story: found some reeeeeeeeeally gorgeous ones at French Bridal along tanjong pagar, and will be going to try on some of them with Ed this Sat
Long story:
--Went to JB to check out gowns like, late last year, and found one which had a really good photographer. Unfortunately I didn't have an idea what I wanted in a gown so had a hard time describing to them what kind of gown i wanted to try.

--took a day off on Wed some weeks ago and went dress shopping with a sec sch friend at tanjong pagar ;p

-- went back to JB today to look for gowns that I wanted but was a little disappointed

Wedding Entertainment etc-

-- Looking for an emcee
--Checking out a capella groups who can sing 2 sets of 15 min and who are not too ex. (Wanted Budak pantai but they don't do weddings esp on weekends... unless I pay 5k or smtg)
--Checking out dance choreos to do a piece for ed and I
--trying to convince Ed to do the dance piece referred to above
--Looking for a mini/beetle to borrow as a wedding car
--Exploring idea of doing solemnization on an amphibious vehicle.....
--trying to work on improving my skin
--going to sign up for gym...soon... hopefully

There. story of my life.

Am very very open to ideas on any of the above, and I'm looking for jie-meis!!!! hahhahah... considering that there are 6 of us and each of us can only do it 3 times (plus some of us have already done it before), need to leave enough manpower to go around yeah? Need I think about 1-2 from our end?

Anyways, am looking forward to HK trip as well.... hopefully we can firm up some dates soon!

ok time for bed ;p
