As I walked out of my room, I saw Yoda sleeping soundly in his favourite cushion as usual. My Mum always comments on how fortunate his life is.
He wakes up at seven to accompany my mum through her daily washing ritual and awaits his breakfast. After that, he begins his daily tanning session on the washing machine.
When my dad wakes up, yoda will follow him there and here again and acts his cutest, all in an attempt to get more food. After that, he sleeps on his favourite cushion till my mum begins dinner cooking.
He wakes up again. He rubs his face and body around her legs and purrs loudly to request for his share as well. He literally follows her everywhere till he gets his dinner. After that, he watches TV with us or rests on the cable box (when the night is cold). It would not be long before he takes his post-dinner nap. He only wakes up again in the wee hours to try play with my dad. After that, he retires on my parents' bed, at my dad's feet.
I figure he basically sleeps about half his life away. While we humans often ponder (I hope) the meaning of our existence, I really wonder if animals do as well? If Yoda could speak, would he come to the same conclusion as my mum, that he's a really lucky feline or reflect on his meaning of his life and conclude that he is not getting the most of it?
Given a choice, would you rather lead his kind of life? Carefree and loved, without the need to handle any responsibilities at all. Or would you rather try find some meaning in the ratty world out there?
